And why wouldn't I, its Saturday night and I am at home watching X-Factor, updating my blog.
If this isn't the epitome of boredom, I don't know what is.
There was a bit of drama with my flight on Monday.
My flight route was Singapore-London-Dublin.
Turns out SIA has this stupid new policy that they cannot check baggages all the way through to Dublin because I was booked on 2 separate tickets. I've been flying since 1999 and this is the first time I was told that my baggage cannot be checked through.
This is very stressful - to get to your baggage claim in London Heathrow, you first have to clear customs. I was booked on the last flight back to Dublin that evening and I have a 9am meeting the next day!!
So after 15 minutes of yelling at the counter-staff who told me that there was nothing she could do, I boarded my flight to London.
Flight to London was delayed so arrived later than schedule. I was meant to arrive at 7pm but instead arrived at 7:30. My connecting flight to Dublin was 9pm and the gate closes at 8:30pm.
So I ran out of the plane when the door opened, cleared customs and waited for my bag. SIA had informed a ground staff to assist me and this guy came looking for me while I was waiting for my bag. They arranged for my bag to arrive first then the guy lunges it to a stroller and ran. I was so taken aback and I ran after him. It was like somebody just stole my bag.
He told me there was no time to walk to Terminal 1 (I was at Terminal 3) and that I needed a cab. I told him I have no cash, all I had in my wallet was Ringgits and Sing Dollars. He told me to go to an ATM. In the meantime he will load my bags into a cab.
I did and joined him then later, only to realise that none of the taxis will take me. There was the guy who was the biggest jerk of them all, he was screaming "There is not a job, I won't take him. Terminal 3 to Terminal 1 is not a job." Dude - you look like you are a loser, I hope you get syphilis the next time you whore yourself around.
The SIA ground staff then went cab by cab and pleaded with each one until one cab agreed to take me.
I mean talk about dedication. This guy was ridiculous - he was even more worried than me on missing my flight. He almost kneel down at one stage to get a cab driver to take me.
What is that?? Walau, I didn't get his name or I would have written a letter to the Straits Times about him. I would have offered him a job there and then.
So because of him, I am in a cab on my way to Terminal 1. It was 8:27pm. I haven't checked in and the gate closes at 8:30pm. Ran to the Aer Lingus counter all flustered and drenched in sweat and counter guy told me "Its alright, flight is delayed by an hour".
Sweet mother of all that's good and pure.
So I made my flight. Got back to Dublin at around 11pm. Got to all my appointments the next day.
All because of that one SIA ground staff. Mr whoever-you-are, thank you.
